Wopper Virgins

The first time I saw this commercial I thought it was funny. Honestly, who would think of taking a Wopper and a Big Mac to some of the remote places in the world and have people try these two hamburgers and decide which the better one is. Advertisers do so many things to prove that they are the best. With this experiment that the advertisers of Burger King did they proved that they were the better hamburger and that they were better than the Big Mac.

The advertisers use Jim Fowles appeals starting with the need to achieve, dominate, attention, and the need to satisfy. The advertisement demonstrates all, of theses appeals because Burger King wants to achieve the status of being the best burgers and having the most popular burgers throughout the fast food chains. Burger King also wants to dominate the fast food industry and be the best that there is. Burger King wants to be known as having the best burgers out there and the only way they will accomplish that is by dominating. They did this by having the experiment-giving people who have never tasted these burgers and asking them which one was better. As a result, the Wopper beat the Big Mac and that proved that the Wopper was a better hamburger than the Big Mac.

The burger King advertisement also achieves the need for attention because in the title of the commercial it is called the Wopper Virgins. Right off, the bat people want to know what is going on because they see the word virgin. This commercial does a good job at capturing people’s attention. The people want to know what is going on and which hamburger is going to come out on top. The final appeal that the Burger King advertisers demonstrates is the need to achieve status. They want to be known as the best and they achieve that by making this commercial. Not only do they achieve it in remote places of the world but also they achieve it in the place where it was invented. This commercial uses many of Jim Fowles appeals to sell their product and in general they do a good job because they use a creative way in doing so.
